Missing In Action: Union Jack

300px-UnionJackV11

Come back with me a few years and on the comic rack will be a limited series starring a third string hero by some unheard of British author named John Cassaday. It was a great book filled with espionage, action and some good old fashioned British horror. Hard to argue with a mix like that.

Jump back to today and where is the walking symbol of the United Kingdom? Kicked to the curb after a nostalgic burst of intrigue in the short-lived Invaders book. Even when we get a dedicated British book in Captain Britain and MI:13, our svelte Limey is nowhere to be found.

The one-time Captain America partner hasn’t been seen since outside of a poster here or a group shot there and that’s a travesty. Marvel doesn’t have many legacy heroes (which I’m fine with, too many are definitely not good) and their non-powered heroes are becoming fewer and fewer these days. Plus, as much as I love the NYC heroes, I think we would all enjoy a more well-rounded look at the whole world within Marvel. Let’s see some international flavor!

Also, I would not be adverse to a Union Jack animated series if it looked like the image below. Who’s with me?
